Our History
Our historical background as a town began in the 1830's with the first white pioneer, Simon Sager. The city of Siloam Springs was later established in 1880. To specifically learn more about our wonderful city and it's start, click here.
When the brick building (top photo) was built in 1907, this building was originally meant to house all of Siloam’s classes--one grade per room. Eventually, however, Siloam’s student population grew too large, and the building became the dedicated high school. By 1918, the number of high school students in Siloam had risen high enough that a new building was needed. Siloam Springs High School then moved to the Arkansas Conference College building which stood at the site of present-day Southside Elementary (aerial view of the 1963 building - bottom photo). Later, in 1963, construction finished on a new high school for Siloam Springs. This building served as Siloam’s high school facility until 2011 and now serves as the Siloam Springs Middle School. As of today, the Siloam Springs School District spans from the east to the west and currently comprises seven buildings. With an enrollment of 4,496 students and a dedicated team of around 650 staff members, the district continues to provide quality education and support to the community, furthering the SSSD mission of "changing lives through educational excellence".
