Are you passionate about politics and government? SSHS students interested in a unique opportunity to meet top U.S. officials and earn a significant college scholarship should consider applying for the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP).
This highly competitive, merit-based program selects two juniors or seniors from each state, Washington, D.C., and Department of Defense schools, for an intensive, week-long educational experience in Washington, D.C. Students will meet with high-level representatives from all branches of government, gaining firsthand insights into the nation's political processes.
In addition to this remarkable experience, each selected delegate receives a one-time $10,000 college scholarship, with a focus on encouraging studies in history and political science. Delegates must attend the Washington Week program in the spring and will need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency to participate.
